Franchise - Franchise FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be an accountant to open an office?
No. We only require that services be provided by qualified accounting and financial planning professionals. We are looking for aggressive entrepreneurs to open multiple locations staffed by those professionals. The franchise owner is not required to have an accounting background to be awarded a franchise.
Can I open more than one office?
Yes, in fact we encourage our more successful owners to share their knowledge by opening multiple offices.
How do you compare with other accounting franchises?
There are two main differences:
- The person providing accounting and tax work in a CFOToday office must have experience in the accounting and tax areas. We expect our accountants to be a Certified Public Accountant or someone with comparable experience.
- We have developed highly efficient, proprietary tools for processing business. These have been developed internally and are constantly refined based on our field tests.
Has personal financial software [like Intuit Quickbooks] had an effect on the accounting and tax market for small businesses?
Yes, Quickbooks has done an excellent job in convincing small business owners that accounting is easy. However, we have discovered that small business owners still have difficulty with the general ledger function. In addition, there are still very few business owners who attempt their own business tax return.
Do you offer any guarantees?
No, we do not guarantee your results, but we have learned the following three things certainly enhance your prospects of success when working within the CFOToday franchise system:
- Sufficient capital to fund on-going marketing,
- A burning desire to build a business and
- An ability to follow a proven system.
If you have questions about the success of our existing franchise offices, you can contact the owners directly.
Do you expect technology to have an effect on the accounting and payroll industry?
The internet and other technology will continue to become more important to small business owners. Yet, we feel that a personal service business will always require a physical presence. Our business is not only accounting but also consulting and planning with each small business owner. We will continue to focus on providing services to small business owners in an effective manner, and technology will play a large role in doing this.
Do you offer protected territories?
No, our franchise agreement does not provide for a protected territory. However, as long as someone is actively marketing for new clients, we do not intend to place new franchises in that area.
